Implementation of the mutually connected transitional justice mechanisms (criminal justice, truth-seeking, reparations, and institutional reform) will offer BH society a greater sense of post-conflict justice.
Finding the best approach for Bosnia and Herzegovina is a sensitive but vital issue, which requires the active support and participation of civil society. With this in mind, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BH, together with UNDP, initiated a consultation process about transitional justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina at a three-day conference held in Fojnica in June 2008. The event was opened by Ministers Barisa Colak and Safet Halilovic, with UNDP BH representative, Christine McNab, representatives from the BH judiciary, the International Center for Transitional Justice and civil society organisations.
